    Multi-Color (CMYK) / CMYK Full

Choose this option to print as many colors as you’d like.

    Other useful things explained…

Pantone - Pantones are specific colors made by mixing certain inks using the Pantone Management System. Pantones are labeled by specific numbers allowing for a more controlled and accurate color of the final print.

CMYK - CMYK, which stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key, is a process of printing which involves mixing the 4 different mentioned colors to achieve a spectrum of color.

Does white count as a color?

For our 1 color and 1 color (full background) prints no, but it can be requested to be added then it will count as a color, resulting in a 2 color print.

    Is white ink available?

Only for our Wholesale Products, along with Tissue, Kraft Tissue, Foodsafe (both white and kraft), Kraft Mailer, Water Activated Tape and Reinforced Gummed Tape.

Please note we have a +/- 10% tolerance on color, size and weight. Colors seen on screen are more vibrant (RGB) than the actual print color (CMYK/Pantone). Color vibrancy can also be further affected by material choice, such as thin semi-translucent paper stock (Tissue) or darker paper stocks (Kraft Paper, Cardboard), as well as print finish (Coated/Uncoated/Matte/Gloss). • Preparing your design for print

In this article we’ve outlined some helpful tips and best practices to ensure your designs are primed and ready to handover to our pre-press design team. Avoid any hiccups or delays by ensuring your design files are exported correctly.

Sending designs from the Adobe Creative Suite

    Ensure all text is outlined

    Why is this important?

When saving design files that include text, the appearance of the text will change if an editing program, like Adobe Creative Cloud, doesn’t have the same fonts installed on the computer being used.

To workaround this, there are generally two solutions:
    – Upload your font files (OTF/TTF) along with the design file (so the font can be used by our team)
    – Convert the text into shapes (outlined) before saving and sharing your design file.

How to outline text in Adobe Illustrator

With your design open in Illustrator, select the text that you’d like to outline:

    Outline-1.png

To outline the selected text, right click while having the Selection Tool selected and press ‘Create Outlines

    Outline-2.png

Afterwards, your text will be converted into shapes meaning it won’t change in appearance when shared across devices.

    Outline-3.png

How to outline text in Adobe Photoshop

With your design open in Photoshop, select the text that you’d like to outline:

    Outline-4.png

Then from the Layers Tab, right click the selected Text Layer and press ‘Convert to Shape’.

    Outline-5.png

Afterwards, your text will be converted into shapes meaning it won’t change in appearance when shared across devices.

Ensure you package save your design file

After you’ve finished your design and you’re ready to upload and order with noissue, rather than ‘Save’ your design, it’s best to ‘Package’ your design instead. Packaging a design file not only saves the finalized design, but importantly also saves any linked assets like images and fonts that the design may be using. Both Illustrator and Photoshop make this process really simple.

For Adobe Illustrator, with your design open, go to ‘File > Package’. This will open the window below:

    Package-1.png

From here, select where you’d like to save the packaged folder and leave all the boxes checked. After pressing the ‘Package’ button, a copy of the AI File, along with any linked assets like images and fonts will be collated and saved together in one folder.

    Package-2.png

The best way to send this packaged folder is to right click and ‘compress’ into a .zip file. Upload the .zip file into your noissue order which will ensure we have all the resources we need to set up your order properly.

For Photoshop users, follow the same instructions, ‘File > Package’, but depending on how the layers in your design are set up, it may not include everything in the folder (like fonts and embedded images in the design) but is regardless still the most ideal way to send files to us.

    Sending designs from Canva

Ensure you save your Canva design as a PDF

On the editor page for your design, select the button on the upper right that says ‘Share’.

    Canva-1.png

After clicking the ‘Share’ button a menu will drop down. Click on the ‘Download’ button next.

    Canva-2.png

By default the file type will be selected as PNG, so we have to set it to PDF Print to make sure that we download the correct file. The 3 boxes under the file type can stay unchecked.

    Canva-3.png

If your file has multiple pages, you can select to include particular pages or select the option for all pages, then press the ‘Download’ button. Locate your downloaded PDF and share/upload to noissue.

    Canva-4.png

Note: If you’re subscribed to Canva Premium, set the Color Profile to CMYK for a more accurate color print, otherwise, if you’re not subscribed, download in RGB and we’ll convert it for you.

  • How do I design my order?

With our friendly design editor, there's different ways to design your noissue custom product:

    - UPLOAD A FINISHED ARTWORK to submit your already finished design. All you need to do is upload your ready-made design file to the design editor. This is best for graphic designers or those who have a prepared template/product design, ideally using our dielines.

    - CREATE A NEW DESIGN ONLINE to create through the design editor. All you need to do is upload a file containing your logo, and you can start designing right on the website! This is best for those with a logo or simple design that still needs to be edited into a product template.

    Screenshot 2024-02-19 at 10.17.33 AM.png

If you’re having trouble uploading or creating with the design editor, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Where can I find the product dielines?

When you're ordering a noissue custom product, you'll have the option to upload a finished artwork, ideally using our product dielines.

A dieline is a template that lays out the structure of your physical noissue product in a "flat" form to act as a guide for how your design will be printed, and they normally also include printing specifications like borders, bleed and trim lines, folds, dimensions, and other product details (i.e. color).

Product Dielines can be found at the design stage of our editor under "upload artwork".

    Screenshot 2024-02-19 at 10.16.22 AM.png

Download our dielines (PDF, AI, and/or PSD format) using the buttons. Open the downloaded file to find a step-by-step guide on designing your product, print requirements (i.e. font size, color limitations, etc.), as well as those handy dielines!

    Screenshot 2024-02-19 at 9.45.15 AM.png

Once completed, head back into the design editor to upload it and check out! Once you place your order, our Pre-Press Team will review your file to make sure it’s ready for printing. A final design proof will then be sent to you for approval before it goes into production.

If you’re having trouble using our dielines or design editor, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.

  • What is a design proof?

A design proof is a digital representation of your custom product that shows what it will look like with your finalized design. It's important to note that a design proof is not an official digital mockup - it's more just like a glimpse of how your design lays out on our product templates.

Once you place your custom order with noissue, our Pre-Press Team will review your design to make sure it’s ready for printing. A final design proof will then be sent to you for approval before it goes into production.

    Proof Disclaimer

Before giving your approval for printing, please carefully review all text and graphics for any errors (i.e. spelling, colors, layout, size, etc.). Please also keep in mind that a design proof is not an official digital mockup of the printed product, but a representation of how your final design lays out on our product templates before going into production.

Please note that the dotted trim line within your design proof marks where your design will be cut in production. Anything outside of this dotted line will be cut off and will not be printed on the final product.

Please also note that, just like most things that you order online, the colors projected by your device’s screen when viewing your proof may vary slightly from the ones in real life. This is because the screen on your device renders your digital design proof in RGB colors while your actual product goes through color processing (you can read more about the RGB here).

For your reference, depending on the product and design, we use the Pantone Matching System or the CMYK color process to print colors (you can learn more about these here). Pantone colors can be matched directly to swatches whereas CMYK colors can differ from printer to printer and may come out a little darker. This means that the colors used for a product that uses Pantone colors (i.e. noissue Tissue) may vary slightly from the colors used for a product that uses CMYK (i.e. noissue Stickers) for the same design.

Don’t worry - our Pre-Press Team will work with you to get as close a color match as possible and recommend the best colors to use for a final result that you’re happy with!

By approving your design proof, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the proof disclaimer and are responsible for any errors found after approval.

If you’re having trouble with color matching, consistency, or if you have any questions about your design proof, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Can I use neon colors?

If you want to make your packaging extra bright and bold, neon colors are an option for some of our products printed with Pantone colors, such as our noissue Tissue!

Heads up - neon colors are tricky to print with, especially for multicolor designs, so these inks are used sparingly. If true neon colors are not available for your specific design or product, we'll suggest other alternatives that give a similar look! Be sure to check the Print Perfect Checklist for your desired product for its specific color limitations.

If you have any questions or concerns about printing neon colors, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Can I use metallic colors?

Want to add a little shimmer to your packaging? Lucky for you, metallic gold, copper, rose gold, and silver can be printed on some of our products (like our noissue Tissue!) - check out our available Pantones for these shades below:

    Production_Design-Metallic.png

You can also see some great examples of what they look like printed on our Instagram:

Just a heads up - true metallic colors are not available for all products (like our noissue Stickers, Tape, and Mailers), but we can suggest CMYK alternatives that give a similar look! Be sure to check the Print Perfect Checklist for your desired product for its specific color limitations.

If you have any questions or concerns about printing metallic colors, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.

  • What file formats and sizes do you accept?

We accept JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, and EPS files with a maximum file size of 100MB. Vectored SVG, EPS, AI, and PDF files are most preferred by our Pre-Press Team to finalize your proof as quickly and easily as possible, but we’ll always work with you to ensure you’re happy with your design.

If you run into any issues uploading your file to the design editor, we recommend trying again with a higher resolution file (SVG, if you can!) for the best results.

If you’re still having trouble with uploading your file, just get in touch with us here, and we’ll be happy to help.
