What is the difference between the various cold cups on the website?
Recyclable vs Compostable
There are two material options available for cold cups; recyclable (PET) cups are made from standard plastic materials which can usually be recycled curbside in most cities.
Compostable (PLA) cups are made from a cornstarch extract intended to mimic a classic plastic feel. It’s visually and tangibly indistinguishable from the PE cups and a great way to promote sustainability in your brand. Disposal really depends on local guidelines as to whether PLA is an accepted material, most larger cities have a PLA program but may require drop off at a specific location rather than curbside in a green bin.
Flat bottom vs Round / U-Shaped:
Cold cups come in two shapes, your classic flat bottom and what we call a U-shape or rounded bottom cup. The latter still sits flat on a table but the edges of the bottom rim curve up to give a more smooth and stylish look. Mostly you see this with matcha brands but now the trend has swept across other markets as well. Both options are available in PE/PLA materials.

Note that capacity is measured up to the brim and doesn’t reflect the average pour, these are maximum held volume measurements.
